Make Me Wanna...: Party, Hop into a Delorean Time Machine ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

1- Love Sick Pretty Boy

Kicking off the EP, you bet your ass this opening track starts with a catchy, killer opening riff. The verses follow a tight rhyming scheme, developing the sexy story of a mystery chick with turquoise blue hair and sparkling eyes who has captured our protagonist's heart, telling him he's 'only into hot chicks'. Now this chorus hooks you instantly, supported by energetic backing vocals that will have you singing the lyrics in your sleep. Between sexy verses about this chick's 'hot body' are shredding interludes. But nothing can prepare you for when the guitar whammy bar kicks in at the start of the second chorus alongside an incredibly bold driving bass line. From there we're treated to a tapping solo and a sultry talking bridge straight out of Mr Diamond Dave's playbook in 'Panama'. Next, it’s time for a solo drum bridge à la 'Cum On Feel The Noize',  isolating that anthemic party beat. And woah, here comes that whammy again wailing like a siren. With the chanting, backing vocals and killer outro solo the song seems to reach its crescendo as Rob ad libs 'Well that's the story about a girl I used to know'. There, now you're officially primed and ready for this sleazy party.

2- Hot Tub Time Machine

Now this song is just pure, unfiltered fun. *Hot Tubs and Time Machines kinda give that away*. With an intro replicating a heartbeat (one that yearns for the 1980s of course) our track equalizes to make its entrance and we hear one very bouncy 1980s Poison-esque riff. The verses channel Shout At The Devil vibes with Vince Neil style rapid-fire lines. With lyrics referencing the infamous 'Mötley House', 'Ratt is blasting, the whiskey ain't lasting', a sexy bass bridge, the chanty chorus (vaguely reminiscent of Rock The Night by Europe), and an ending that *for any Warrant lovers like me out there* could almost be mistaken for the Cherry Pie ending at first listen, this song is the perfect slice of cheese and sleaze.

3- Tuff Love

Even if you're new to Röxxi Red, it will quickly become clear that vocalist, Rob, is an avid Green Day fan when this song opens with its riff and bassline. There's something almost melancholy about the open chords playing behind the vocals as our protagonist questions his unrequited love directly in the first verse. But it's never all doom and gloom, as hinted at by the whispered 'I know you want me'. When listening you feel like you're let in on a very private love story but also a universally shared heartache. Our protagonist regains his confidence in the lead up to the chorus with a 'Well you know there's nothing better than me' and with a punchy '1,2,3' comes the gorgeous star of the show; a nostalgic, harmonised chorus, singing the words 'Tough Love', Def Leppard 'Photograph'-style. Our singer reminds us that sometimes this is just how love goes, 'baby tough love'. We get treated to an incredibly sweet, emotive, melodic and magical 80s style solo full of sweeps and bends. Thank you Mr George Hayday for further satiating our appetite for romantic 80s nostalgia ! Just before the end of this gorgeous song come isolated vocals teasing us before the final chorus kicks in with extra harmonized backing vocals and an outro solo playing over the top. This song is my personal favourite of all six.

4- Give It All You Got

All I can say when I hear this song is Ratt. Ratt in the riff, Ratt in the vocals, 'Round And Round' sums up this song in total. Good rhyme ? I'll leave the lyricism to Rob. Though something does tell me that this song is a somewhat deliberate ode to Ratt with the line 'Girl you got me spinning round and round'. Anyway, besides the pure Ratt energy, we get a strong drumbeat, a hell of a lot of ride cymbal, a clean, open interlude playing over a slow, sexy, spanish-inspired bass riff, culminating in a powerful yell from our vocalist and a solo that steals the spotlight, echoing the riff at a higher pitch with its wails.

5- Here We Go

This song starts with a very sombre intro, setting the mood for what's to come. This tone is further reinforced by a slow drumbeat and acoustic followed by the ad-lib 'My my my, it's the Same Ol' Situation' ;) and accompanied by a complimenting melancholic lead guitar lick. The bass is real strong on this one. The melancholy licks continue to sneak in where they can between the verse where our main man seems to be observing another person's relationship with dismay. Here our guitarist steps away from Eddie in Panama and assumes the expressive identity of C.C in a Poison ballad. The mention of 'Merry Go Round' (another nod to Crüe) reminds us of their own similarly melancholy tune. We get a marching-band style chorus on the drums and by this I mean a whole lot of snare lovin' on this reflective track.

6- Gimme Me More

You want sex ? You get sex on this track. Craving some David Lee Roth vibes? You’ll get those classic ad libs like, 'Alright, let’s go !' and 'Come on baby, let’s do this'. Want some Oli Herman flavor ? Rob’s playful laugh between verses seals the deal. We begin with a catchy muted riff that builds up into the drum fill and a soaring vocal. Then our Rock n Roll love/lust story starts with 'I met this girl around midnight'. The nostalgic guitar riff keeps this sweet momentum going. We see our singer's sensitive side with lyrics like 'I love your time' and 'You know I'm thinking of you'. But hey, that doesn't last too long as the heat builds up with a suggestive, repetitive 'Give me more' that crescendos into a bouncy, rhyming, rap-style chorus telling the lucky lady 'wrap your legs around me tight, soak in every bite', to which 'she screams' 'woah' in a harmonised chorus. Still clearly not satisfied, our leading man repeats a very sexually frustrated 'Gimme more' and continues to tell us a story of breaking beds, scratches and scars. WARNING: This song is just a little too catchy, so be careful that you don't start crying for more at your office job on a random Wednesday. As this song ends, our British Oli Herman goes wild on the ad libs for the outro. It's hard to miss the Hot (by Reckless Love) references with 'I think it's getting hot in here, I better take my top off' and 'I think I lost my shirt somewhere on the second verse'. So if you were listening to this EP and still waiting for Röxxi Red to turn up the heat and 'give you more' then this is the track that delivers.

Final Verdict ?: We may only get 6 songs but each is powered by an incredibly strong bass line and sexed up with wailing guitar licks and fast melodic solos. 'The UK's most notorious glam-band' deliver sex, a party and bring the fun back into the modern landscape with good ol' fashioned pure 1986 Rock n Roll ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
